On This Day 12 Years Ago...UG
K Released Their Classic Album "Ridin' Dirty"

Even before starting this blog, I was trying to think of how I could help my viewers other than by posting new music.I find it very important to use my blog as a platform for more than just posting links of new tapes and songs, I really made this site to keep people informed about hip hop/r&b music, both new and old.

Through my e-exploits on various urban music websites I have come across many different people who listen to hip hop and r&b and I have come to the conclusion that there is a large amount of uneducated hip hop/r&b fans. It also seems that that younger listeners are very out of touch with the past works of many hip hop and r&b greats.

Well, I am young, but I started listening to hip hop and r&b heavily at the age of 8, so I have a pretty advanced knowledge of both genres for my age. I think it is my duty as a loyal fan to these genres that I take the knowledge I have and pass it off to those who are younger or haven't been listening to hip hop or r&b for a long time. In this segment I will be taking a look back in the past at albums that have came out previous to the year 2000 to give you an idea of how things were musically 8+ years ago. Let's start things off with a Southern classic that dropped 12 years ago on this day...

On July 29th, 1996 the Port Arthur, TX rap duo UGK dropped their fourth studio album titled "Ridin' Dirty." With Pimp C's legendary production and the hard hitting verses of Bun B, this album was a win-win situation on the lyrical and producing side. With classic songs such as "Murder," "One Day," and "Ridin' Dirty," this album is not only a Southern classic, but a classic hip hop album in general. UGK's footprint in hip hop is set in stone, they have inspired many of today's hip hop artists, for example; Houston rapper Chamillionaire's UGK inspired song "Ridin' Dirty" would go on to win the MC a grammy. That is just one of many instances where UGK's music has inspired someone in one way or another. Due to the passing of Pimp C last December, there for now is only going to be 1 more UGK album released, so it's important to partake in listening to as much UGK as possible, including their classic, "Ridin' Dirty." Below are 3 of my favorite songs off the album and cdnow.com/Itunes links for purchasing the album; support classic hip hop and cop this album!!!!
