BBB Presents: Attitude

This dude right here is sooooooooo slept on, it makes me sick to my stomach that more people don't know about him. Meet Attitude aka Mr. Time Iz Money. The Brighton, Alabama flame spitter has been in the game for about 12 years. His debut album "Serious Times" is a heater, I suggest you cop it if you see it at your local cd store, it did come out in 1997 so I'm guessing it might be hard to find it so HERE IS A LINK to cdnow.com to purchase it! You may ask why is this Attitude guy so special BFochs? Well besides the fact that his swagger and skill got him a deal on Timbaland's label, Attitude comes hard as hell on the mic and with is pen game! Peep Attitude's official bio! Shouts to Steel City Ent. for sendin' all this stuff over!

Despite the music industry’s current obsession with all things Southern- Birmingham, Alabama remains quiet: as lost between Atlanta and Houston in the game as it is on the map. Now with new Warner Bros. Recording artist, Attitude, is poised to become the new voice of the South, and Birmingham is about to claim its position as one of hip hop’s most important cities.

Born Timothy Clayton and raised in the small town of Brighton, Alabama, Attitude’s teen years involved several trips in and out of jail. In between stints, he developed a love for the hip-hop game - which, in the absence of a music industry presence in the Birmingham area, was nourished with the mainstream offerings from Miami, Atlanta, and New York. As a result, Attitude developed a style that held true to his southern upbringing, but was greatly influence by the East Coast lyrically. He made the conscious decision, while serving his last sentence, to use his talents to take his life off the inevitable course it was running. “I knew my problem was the fact that I kept going to jail,” says the artist. “Where I lived and what I did was gonna keep leading back to jail or even worse. So I was just believed, ‘This time when I get out, Imma try going somewhere else, somewhere new to see if that would help me and it did.” This life altering decision led Attitude to start Centa Street Records with partner Wade Summerville to develop Alabama’s young talent.

In addition to allowing him to release his first album, 1996’s Serious Times, Attitude’s search for talent led him to a friendship that would take his career to the next step. “I had this friend who said he had a friend who rapped,” Attitude remembers, “a white cat.” The friend-of-a-friend was none other than Bubba Sparxxx. Since their introduction, Attitude has toured with Sparxxx and appeared on his critically- acclaimed second album, Deliverance. The close relationship also lead Attitude to work with one of the most respected producers in the game, Timbaland, who signed him to the fledgling Beat Club imprint – home to several promising acts including Sparxxx and Miss Jade. Unfortunately, the politics of the game put a dent on Attitude’s plan. “Right after I signed to Beat Club,” he explains, “Timbaland ended up losing that deal with Interscope. So we had to kinda take it back to the drawing board. Everybody just had to breathe.” Despite having over half an album’s worth of music recorded, Attitude continued to grind in the studio.

The grind continues, as he prepares to redefine the music industry’s concept of the southern artist. In addition to an impressive catalogue of recorded material, Attitude has written for the likes of Nelly Furtado “Promiscuous Girl,” Timbaland and Diddy. Attitude envisions his music as the southern voice which is so underrepresented in this age of Crunk. “We bringing the same thing, but from a grown approach, without the hollerin’ and jumping up and down,” he says. “Ain’t nothing new under the sun, just a better story teller, better conversation. My music is gonna click something in the imagination.”
