Team USA aka "The Redeem Team" took care of business in their first Olympic basketball game versus China. The first half was pretty entertaining with USA using their raw athleticism and talent to get up by a few baskets, and China's using their sharpshooting from the 3 point line to bring them right back in. Due to USA's stifling defense and energy though, team China couldn't handle the fonk in the 2nd half, in turn making this a blowout.
The Chinese fans were very energetic, cheering not only for their team heavily, but also for the USA. NBC did a nice segment at halftime how China loves basketball, they love it so much they said it is taking over soccer in popularity. This in my opinion is because of the presence of Yao Ming in the NBA, funny thing is though his jersey isn't even the number 1 selling jersey in China, Kobe Bryant's is. Although the game was a blowout, it was entertaining due to the enthusiam and good sportmanship of both teams and the fans.
