On this day in 2000, Ludacris dropped his Def Jam debut "Back For The First Time," and team of Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek teamed up to form Relection Eternal to drop "Train Of Thought." The success of Ludacris's underground project "Incognegro" got him a deal at Def Jam at the turn of the Millenium. "Back For The First Time" is actually "Incognegro" with some new tracks on it. Either way, I thought it was a quality album regardless of the old material. "Back For The First Time" featured production from Bangladesh, The Neptunes, Organized Noise, Timbaland and Jermaine Dupri. Some of the more notable joints from the project are "Southern Hospitality," "What's Your Fantasy," and "Ho."
Not only did Ludacris drop "Back For The First Time" 8 years ago on October 17th, but Brooklyn MC Talib Kweli teamed up with Cincinnatti producer Hi-Tek linked up to create the group Reflection Eternal and released their one and only album "Train Of Thought." With the tight flows of Talib Kweli and the soulful smooth production of Hi-Tek, this album turned out great. I would have to say that this album is one of my all time favorites from this decade. With such hits as "The Blast,"and "Move Somethin," plus the various other quality joints on this album, "Train Of Thought" was solid album. As always you will find links below to purchase both of these albums as well as links to a few songs and a video from each. COP THESE CLASSIC ALBUMS!!!
