GWHH: First things first, we got the latest installment of the Mixtape Messiah series droppin’ this SUNDAY with Mixtape Messiah 5! All your fans that have been there from the beginning are definitely psyched for this one, so can you discuss what we can expect from Mixtape Messiah 5? More RMXs of today’s hits? Or any other collaborations you got lined up for it?
Chamillionaire: Mixtape Messiah 5 is basically just more material man. That’s what I wanna say. More material in a short period of time. I dropped Mixtape Messiah 4 not too long ago and I wanted to show the fans that just hard work pays off. I feel like I want to come back real quick and stay in their minds because people got short attention spans nowadays. I don’t see any other artists droppin’ this many mixtapes like this man. This quality of mixtapes back to back like that. They’re fully pressed up in the streets, we’re droppin’ it from the car shows, fans online will be able to get it. The Mixtape Messiah series is a very popular brand and I’m just tryin’ to heat it up and stick it to people’s heads. Basically, it’s just more material. Honestly a lotta times I hit a lot of artists man, and they’ll be like, “I wanna get on the Mixtape Messiah series”, and then I wait for them and I have to wait too long for them to take a while to deliver one freestyle and I move quick man, I can get in there and do 5 or 6 a day. A lot of people don’t have that work ethic and they’ll send me one by the time I finish the CD. So I just hold it or don’t even use it, you know? I think a lot of artists are just not as fast.
GWHH: Yeah I can definitely see that and it has always shown in all the material that you come up with. I know you touched on it a little bit already, but could you also discuss the strategy behind releasing Mixtape Messiah 5 less than 3 months after Mixtape Messiah 4 and shortly before the release of your next LP, Venom, due out in early 2009?
Chamillionaire: I plan to actually drop another Mixtape Messiah before Venom even drops. Because I actually didn’t wanna overdo it with this Mixtape Messiah, you know, no triple disc, no double disc, it’s one disc.. And I kept a little bit of the material and I’m a drop this right before… All this is very strategized. I understand they got a lot of content before; I don’t wanna overdo it but then I don’t want to underdo it too. So right before my album, I feel like I gotta hit them with another big bang. One that lets everyone know when the album is droppin’. Right now I say early 2009, but I need that date to be so stuck in people’s heads so I need somethin’ big to drop at that time to let people know the date. I plan to drop another one right before that one so it’s very strategic. This one is just to fill in that middle space before I drop that big bomb. Then after that, the bigger bomb will be my album, which I feel like is one of the dopest albums I’ve done, so you know? I’m pretty confident about this one.
