This guy right here folks is what you would call a legend. Derrick Note is one of the first rappers I ever heard from Wisconsin and ever since I was introduced to his group the Country Boy Clique I've been a huge fan ever since, now it's time for the e-streets and those who aren't hip to WI Hip Hop to learn a lot more about the legendary and infamous Derrick Note, peep his bio below!
Derrick Note, born Derrick Dameon Jelks, was born in Milwaukee, WI. Derrick Note has been writing music since the age of 12 and performing solo since age 14. Growing up around parents of southern decent Derrick took on to blues, life music, imitating acts like James Brown and Michael Jackson. Later, Derrick Note took to the street life living between Milwaukee, WI and the rough Gary, Indiana. He became fused to the hip-hop b boy scene. His first appearance on a release was the infamous Country Boy Clique, a group formed with Chicago native and Milwaukee Co. legend Baby Drew. The release was a cd single intitled "Goldfangaz" on indie label Eye Too Eye Records. The release was followed by the infamous Country Boy Clique's LP, "Powder" which gained regional/national attention quickly because of Billboard chart presence.
Derrick Note continued his career with the Eye Too Eye label and the infamous Country Boy Clique in addition to his solo projects; 2001 compilation "Somthin' In The Water" on mob-on records and the 2003 solo LP "Picture This" on Neva Dance Muzic and now, with an almost 6 years wait, Derrick Note returns with just his second solo release on solo entertainment/eye 2 eye records entitled "Mr. 2 Get Paid. "Mr. 2 Get Paid" is due out late December of 2008.
Derrick Note has been reppin' WI to the fullest for years and it's only right that he get the shine he deserve on my blog. Never did I think after hearing his Country Boy Clique album "Powder" did I think I'd get a chance to showcase his talent, oh how sweet is the internet lol. Derrick Note was kind enough to pass over 2 joints that you most definitely need to fuck with. As read above, his new project "Mr. 2 Get Paid" in late December.
