BFochs Reviews Lil Rock-The Quiet Riot

After checking out the tracks Lil Rock hooked BFochs.com with for his feature, I garnered more interest in his project "The Quiet Riot." Firstly, what does the title mean, I know this guy is a writer, so there has to be an underlying meaning and reason for him titling said project. After a few spins of this album, I totally understand why he titled that and then some, behold the review of "The Quiet Riot!"

All in all, this project is a win in my eyes. Why is it a win you say? Simple, it contains the key elements I personally look for when listening to a full-length release. Entertainment, that one sounds simple, but nowadays a lot of artists lose a listeners attention with some sell-out single or useless filler song that ruins the flow of the album, 'all systems go' with that aspect on "The Quiet Riot." Secondly, one must 'drop knowledge,' by that I mean it's cool to entertain someone and make them bob their heads, but leaving the fans and listeners a message to take with them after listening, that's what solidifies 'replay value,' to me in music, another win in that category for Mr. Rock.

His songwriting capabilities are really visible in cuts such as "Candy Bars" and "Homeless," lyricism is a dying art in today's brand of 'hip hop,' definitely no problems in that audio arena as well. The last thing I would note as to giving this album an overall win would be overall consistency. Even some of today's best artists have a few duds on their major release, Lil Rock was able to keep my interest throughout the entire album, which is hard, I'm picky haha. The only gripe I have is that he could have been smoother with some of his delivery, all in all it's on point, but in some areas it seemed like he was rushing to the point where rushing wasn't needed.

"The Quiet Riot" is definitely a project worth investing time into, there's a lot of flack on the market, it's nice to see an artist put in the extra effort to not only capture one's attention, but mind too, this album will definitely make you think. Out of the possible 5, 1 being "Audio Puke" and 5 being "Audio Piff" I give this album a 4.25, the extra '.25' is the fact this project is EMBEDDED with dope lyrics you will not find on a project in my area, a great feat considering Wisconsin has some REALLY nasty lyricists. If you enjoy heartfelt, thought-provoking and lyrical music, copping "The Quiet Riot" is a good look!
