On This Day...In 1997...Master P Dropped Ghetto D!!!

Oh so you thought Fochsamus Prime ran out of gas on his whole "On This Day..." segment eh? WELL YOU WERE VERY WRONG! lol. What happened was when I did research on a bunch of albums that I wanted to post about, I didn't really run into many that dropped in August, but don't worry I got a lot crackin' in the 4th quarter...so stay tuned...and watch me reminicse about the good ole days :)

On this day in 1997, the No Limit General Master P released his critically acclaimed album "Ghetto D." If you know your history about No Limit Records & Master P, you know that No Limit was holding down the south hardcore, perhaps the most influential Southern music label at the time. Ghetto D was Master P's most successful selling album, it moved 761,000 copies in it's first week alone; it would go on to sell over 10 million copies worldwide, easily making it Master P's highest selling solo album.

With singles like "Make 'Em Say Ugh," "Burbons and Lacs," and the homage paying "I Miss My Homies," Ghetto D had the commerical bravado to successfully debut at number one on the Billboard charts. Along with those songs and such classic joints such as "Pass Me Da Green," "Captain Kirk," and "Let's Get Em," Master P and his No Limit Records supporting cast successfully churned out not only a Southern classic, but a classic album period.

If you are fortunate to have a hard copy of "Ghetto D" that's awesome, you already know what I'm talking about when I say "classic"...for those of you who haven't been able to add this classic, your in luck! Below is a video of the classic joint "Make Em Say Ugh" along with a few cuts off the album and links to purchase a hard copy or to get your digital download on, support a true gem and cop Ghetto D!
