Boy oh boy did a classic album drop this day, 13 years ago. On this day in 1995, Atlanta-based group Goodie Mob dropped their debut album "Soul Food." This album is heaven to a music listener'ss ears, just not a hip hop fan's. This project had almost everything an album should have. The lyrics were on point, the production from Organized Noise was outstanding and a person by the name of Cee-Lo greatly contributed to the soulful feel and sound of this album.

This is one of those albums that we'll be able to listen to decades from now and still be able to vibe to it like it just came out. Timeless music would be one way to define "Soul Food." Another phrase that could be used to describe this album is "stepping-stone." This album paved the way not only for Goodie Mob, but the South as far as showing the nation that they are just as hip hop as the east coast & west coast. "Soul Food" showed was the south here to stay, and 13 years later their movement is more prevalent than ever. Hopefully someday we can see a new Goodie Mob album, I'd be all for it. Below you can catch a few tracks that you add to you "awesome music" playlist in your music collection as well as a video for the title track "Soul Food." Not only will you see a video for "Soul Food," but you can catch a fan-made video for the rare "Soul Food Remix" which features 8 Ball & MJG.
